Ideas for Characters (or Shamless Filler)
As of yet, I have only one Dungeons and Dragons character who I have both used and enjoyed playing as. That would be Nai’Atha, a half-elf sorcerer and soon to be bard once I level him up again. I have played as a Nezumi Rouge (Nezumi are rodent people from Rokugan, an Oriental campaign setting) based on my imaginary friend Ralph, but I wasn’t completely satisfied with the character. I guess he was too much like Ralph. I would like to try another Ralph-esque character, but I think I’ll make him a halfling or something like that and add some non-Ralph personality traits.
Nai’Atha on the other hand, is going to be one of my chief characters. I guess he is in one way an alter-ego of myself, but that’s probably something common in role-playing games. I plan on making him sort of the skills and information guy in the group, specializing in Knowledge type stuff (hence his Bardic Knowledge) and experts in stuff like Diplomacy, Disguise, Escape Artist, Speak Language and Decipher Script.
I do have another character I would like to try out. The character’s name is Bhe’Tor Dharnon and he is a half-drow Barbarian. The basic personality I ripped of from Tyr Anasazi in the TV series Andromeda because it sounds like a cool personality to try out. I plan on playing Bhe’Tor Dharnon as this big, scary guy who comes along on the adventures for the money and his own experience. I’d like to make him the leader of his own tribe. I’ll fill you in on his back story some time.
Another type of character I would like to try out is a sort of Byron esque type character (by that I mean bisexual) a poetic, mock-philosopher, sword-fighting type person. For that I picture an Elven bard/Swashbuckler. I’d like to play as this kind of character because it seems fun.
I also got an idea for a character while watching Braveheart. Has anyone who’s seen Braveheart remember that Irish guy who kept up a conversation with God? Well, I saw that and I should try that out in a character. This one character I have vaguely thought out. He’s going to be a dwarf, his accent will be more Scottish, and he will also have leanings to Willie the Groundskeeper, from the Simpsons.
I’d also like to try out characters because of class. Classes like Ranger, Monk and Paladin interest me, and I’d like to play as a character from an evil race as a Cleric for a good deity.
